Jamshedpur, Oct 25: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy on Saturday inspected the Chhath Ghats prepared along the Kharkai and Subernarekha rivers in Kadma and Sonari areas to review the arrangements ahead of the festival.
He expressed satisfaction over the cleanliness and accessibility of the ghats, appreciating the active role of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and the district administration for their commendable work.
Roy noted that with the support of his political and social associates, effective steps had been taken for the cleaning of the ghats and construction of approach roads.
He said that only minor lapses were found at a few ghats, which would be corrected by Sunday.
During his visit, residents of Shastri Nagar and nearby localities along the Kharkai river raised concerns about public amenities and deteriorating law and order in the area.
Assuring the residents, Roy announced that an intensive campaign would be launched after Chhath Puja to address various civic and infrastructural issues of Kadma.
He directed workers from JD(U), BJP, and his other supporter groups to prepare detailed reports on the condition of roads, drains, and sanitation in their respective areas.
The lists would also include data on waterlogging and poor drainage spots, especially areas prone to flooding during the monsoon.
Roy said that time-bound plans would be executed to eliminate these problems and make Kadma a model and problem-free locality.
He also instructed his team to identify areas plagued by gambling, drug abuse, illegal encroachments, and anti-social activities.
The MLA emphasized that special attention would be given to densely populated areas like Shastri Nagar, Bhatia Basti, and Ramjanam Nagar, which would be developed in coordination with the district administration, JNAC, and Tata Steel UISL.
Roy concluded by saying, “This Chhath, our resolve is to seek blessings from Chhathi Maiya to make Kadma a developed, peaceful, and problem-free region. A structured campaign to eliminate criminal activities and ensure all-round development will begin right after the festival.”
