Jamshedpur, Oct 25: On the occasion of the Chhath festival, the Janata Dal (United) leaders have urged the district administration to temporarily stop the ongoing helmet checking drive to ensure convenience for devotees and the general public.
JDU East Singhbhum District President Subodh Srivastava and JDU Yuva Morcha District President Neeraj Singh have appealed to the district administration and the Traffic DSP to immediately suspend the campaign.
The leaders said that during Chhath, city roads and marketplaces witness heavy rush as devotees remain busy purchasing puja essentials and making preparations for the festival.
In such circumstances, helmet checking by traffic police is causing unnecessary inconvenience to people.
They further added that considering the sanctity of the festival and the sentiments of the devotees, the administration should adopt a co-operative approach during this period to ensure public comfort and maintain the festive spirit.
