Jamshedpur: MLA of Jamshedpur West, Saryu Roy, on Monday conducted a site inspection of the ongoing construction of the elevated road on NH-33 from Pardih Kali Temple to Dental College, following complaints from local residents.

Officials and engineers of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) accompanied him during the inspection.

Roy and the team reviewed the construction work from Pardih to Baliguma and discussed various public grievances. He directed NHAI officials to take immediate steps to address the issues faced by commuters and local residents.

Highlighting the complaints, Roy said excessive dust generated during construction was causing inconvenience to people.

He instructed officials to ensure heavy sprinkling of water at places where soil had turned into dust and to remove thick layers of dust using JCB machines. NHAI officials agreed to implement the measures.

Another major concern raised was the lack of adequate cross roads for people to move from one side of the road to the other. Roy directed that cross roads be constructed wherever required to ease local movement.

Roy also pointed out congestion at three locations where ramps descend—near Pardih Chowk, one before Dimna Chowk and another after Dimna Chowk.

He noted that the presence of drains alongside the ramps was narrowing the road, making it difficult for heavy vehicles to pass.

He suggested that instead of drain covers, strong PCC (plain cement concrete) casting should be done over the drains along the ramp stretches so that heavy vehicles can move smoothly. Officials assured that PCC casting would be done wherever necessary.

Additionally, Roy instructed that in areas where internal construction work is underway, temporary tin-sheet barricades should be erected on both sides to prevent dust from spreading outside.

NHAI officials agreed and stated that they would prepare a new design as per the suggestions and present it to him soon.
