Calls for Netaji Museum and airport expansion

Jamshedpur, Nov 17: MLA Saryu Roy and social worker Shekhar Dey, partner at Sreeleathers, jointly inaugurated the newly developed banquet hall at The Milanee Hall in Bistupur. Speaking on the occasion, Shekhar Dey emphasized the importance of following the ideals of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and reiterated the demand for establishing a dedicated Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Museum in the city. He also urged MLA Saryu Roy to work toward the expansion of Sonari Airport to reduce dependence on Ranchi and Kolkata for air travel.

Saryu Roy praised the transformation of the historic Milanee building, calling it a cultural landmark reflecting the growth of Bengali heritage in Jamshedpur. He assured full support for any further development work required at the premises. Roy expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the Sakchi Ambagan, recently renamed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Ambagan, and announced that a Netaji Museum showcasing Netaji’s complete history would soon be established there.

The evening concluded with a felicitation ceremony led by labor leader Raghunath Pandey and Shekhar Dey, honoring contributors to the new banquet hall project. A cultural program featuring Kolkata-based singer Shovam Ganguly entertained all present with a medley of songs.

New executive members elected at The Milanee AGM
Jamshedpur, Nov 17: Shortly after the inauguration of the renovated Milanee Hall in Bistupur, the club held its Annual General Meeting, followed by elections for The Milanee East Committee. The meeting reviewed the committee’s ongoing cultural and social initiatives before proceeding to the polls overseen by A. Srinivas Rao.

A total of 25 nominations were filed, out of which 21 candidates were elected as executive members. Of the 480 Milanee members, 280 cast their votes, with many former members securing victory once again. Dipankar Dutta (Raju) secured the highest votes at 261, followed by Krishnendu Chatterjee with 259 votes and Mihir Kumar Bhattacharya with 256 votes.
The newly elected executive members will soon convene to elect the president, general secretary, and other office bearers. Post-election, social worker and Sreeleathers partner Shekhar Dey honored the winning candidates with roses in the presence of committee officials and members.
Four candidates lose in Milanee committee elections, vote count released
Jamshedpur, Nov 17: In the AGM election for 21 executive positions of The Milanee Committee, 25 candidates contested, with four failing to secure enough votes. The candidates who lost include Palash Kanti Hazra (58 votes), Partho Ghosh (58), Subrata Raut (60), and Priyojit (56).
The detailed vote tally of the elected members included Rumi Bagchi – 252; Nabanita Banerjee (Soumi) – 236; Chaitali Sarkar – 253; Keya Kundu – 236; Dipankar Dutta (Raju) – 261; Krishnendu Chatterjee – 259; Gautam Kumar Guha – 253; Prabal Tarafdar – 247; Mihir Kumar Bhattacharya – 256; Ujjwal Guha – 238; Bimal Roy – 235; Gautam Dey – 237; Gautam Acharya – 244; Basu Dev Das – 231; Gautam Kumar Bhowmick – 247; Swapan Dutta – 238; Subrata Ghosh – 245; Arijit Sarkar – 238; Ganesh Das – 212; Purnendu Kumar Sarkar – 221; Dipankar Dey – 227.
These results marked the formation of a new executive team that will lead Milanee’s cultural and community initiatives in the upcoming year.
