Amway initiates as part of CSR

Jamshedpur, July 13: With a strong commitment to CSR for bring about social innovation and change, Amway India, today announced a digital literacy initiative towards govt schools. As a part of this initiative Amway India will make computers available to over 5000 students studying in 14 schools.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Saryu Roy, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Govt of Jharkhand who applauded the initiative by Amway India and encouraged the children to adapt to the new age learning. Also present was Rajat Banerji, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Amway India.
Speaking to the media, Saryu Roy said, �Digital technology is evolving rapidly everywhere, and it is important that every child adapts to the change. Computer literacy is an important part of the overall development of a child and I appreciate the efforts of Amway India in this regard�.
An extension of the various other community development programs undertaken by Amway India, this initiative too supports the company�s motto of helping people live better lives.
Rajat Banerji, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Amway India, said, “As part of our CSR initiative we have decided to adopt Tata Workers Union High School so that the quality of education being imparted can be improved which in turn will benefit the students”. He added, Amway India have been relentlessly working towards spreading digital literacy. We have over the years set up 15 computer centers across 15 cities. In the first phase of this drive to create awareness about digital learning amongst the government schools here, we have contributed 26 computers to 14 schools in Jharkhand. Technology is a powerful tool for development today and every child needs to be equipped with digital knowledge�.
Fourteen government schools which received computers include Gandhi Middle School Mango, Middle School Dimna Mango, Middle School Sankosai Road No. 5, ADLS High School Kadma and Jhanda Singh Middle School Daigutu Mango got three computers each. Jawaharnagar Urdu Middle School Mango and Middle School Pardih got two computers each. Middle School Kunwar Basti Mango, Guru Gobind Singh Middle School Gaud Basti Mango, Janta Middle School Sonari, Primary School Mahatopara Sonari, Upgraded Middle School Bhatia Basti Kadma, Madrasi Sammelani Middle School Bistupur and Thakkar Bappa Middle School Dhatkidih received one computer each during the programe.
Present on the occasion were MLA representative (Education) MP Singh and school Principal Akhileshwar Kumar. To make the event successful assistant teacher Shipra played a vital role. Students on the occasion staged nukkad natak based on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Hema Ghosh presented kathak dance. The event concluded with national anthem.
