Jamshedpur, Feb 11: Jharkhand legislator while speaking at the National Water Conclave in Bhopal at a juncture when the Madhya Pradesh government has proposed a Right to Water Act, observed, Water for irrigation is meant for the crop fields, water in the villages is meant for villagers and water supplied to homes is meant for the families. It is once again imperative that man follows the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave. In our country, the local people should have right to natural resources including water but in reality this right is claimed by the industries. The problem does not end here. If the government cannot provide adequate water resources, people can go to court but this move will only compound chaos.
Others who addressed during this conclave were Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Health minister Sukhdev Pase, Water Movement National Coordinator Sanjay Singh, International Right to Water Law authority from Pune Dr Anupam Shroff, Telangana Water Board Chairman Prakash Rao, World banks Senior Advisor Anil Sinha, UP governments Water Conservation Advisor and Sajal Bharat Abhiyan official Mahendra Modi and 25 others from various states.
