Seraikela, March 21: Gangamani Naik, a 44 year old lady suffered a fall in her Batihasa home and suffered multiple injuries on her head and fractured jaw bones. Her husband, Krishna Naik took Gangamani to several hospitals but could not get her treated. Finally, banking heavily on the luck factor, brought his wife to Sadar Hospital in Saraikela on January 27. For Krishna and his wife Gangamani, the nod of Sadar Hospital doctors was a huge relief. Gangamani herself stated, “I had given up hope of surviving. I was in great pain and my husband left no stone unturned to seek avenues for my treatment. Then he brought me here (Saraikela Sadar Hospital) where I was blessed with a fresh lease of life.” After examining Gangamani’s injuries, Dr Sushmita, and Dr. Pradeep Kumar of Sadar Hospital took up the challenge to give the Batihasa (Under Toklo police station in Chakradharpur) resident a fresh lease of life. Gangamani was kept under close observation. The medics with the assistance of Dental Assistant Gautam, Dental Hygienist Raju, ANM Nurses Sisters Saraswati and Robert, the doctors performed the intricate and delicate work of arch wiring with plates to treat her jaw and chin injuries. The process was repeated a second time.
A month and a half later Dr Sushmita, Dr Pradip Kumar and their committed team removed the arch wiring from her jaw and chin regions on Monday. The doctors informed that the bone joints in Gangamani’s chin had suffered multiple fracture and was set right by performing the wire arch plate insertion. The doctors said, “Her face, jaws and chin have regained the original status. We are grateful to Gautam, Raju and Sisters Saraswati and Robert who helped us to perform this critical treatment successfully.”
This treatment was t first of its kind in Saraikela Sadar Hospital. The injuries suffered by Gangamani on her nose and head were also treated with expertise and the 44 year old has got back her original look. The medical team of Saraikela Sadar Hospital has presented Gangamani a second go at life and the Naik couple ran short of words while thanking the entire medical team that performed a miracle.
