Saraikela police raids against bootleggers cause panic

Saraikela: Following the Kolhan DGP’s directives, the police in the district have launched several raids to stop bootleggers from running their trade of illicit liquor brew and sale. The raids have left those involved in the illicit liquor trade panicky.

Saraikela police station OC Navin Prakash Pandey informed that Mahua brew was being sold illegally in Kolabira and Sini areas. Raids at these joints led to confiscation of 120 liters of Mahua liquor, 18 IMFL bottles, 16 bottles of country liquor and 10 liters of spirit. Two people were arrested in the connection.

In Adityapur PS area, 30 liters of country liquor were seized. Acting on a secret tipoff, the Kandra police raided Tikayat Mandal’s country liquor brewery at Burudih village along the Swarnrekha river bank and seized 16 liters of illicit Mahua brew and 500 kilograms of dried Mahua seeds.

The police department has issued WhatsApp numbers for the public to report of such illegal activities. The numbers released by the police department are 9431706529 (SP) and 9431706531 (SDPO) over which people can send in such information. SP Md Arshi has appealed to the general people to cooperate in curbing the crime rate. They have been assured that their names would be kept secret. Arshi said that without the people’s cooperation and support it would be difficult to contain criminals and crimes.
