Jamshedpur, October 8: Sakchi Chenab Road Durga and Kali Bari will celebrate the 102nd Durga Puja this year with festivities, as announced by Temple Committee General Secretary Shantanu Bose. The Puja, first held in 1923 at Kalimati, has been celebrated at Chenab Road since Tata Steel granted land to the committee several years later.
For the 102nd year, the idol of Goddess Durga will be adorned in the traditional ‘Daker Saaj.’ As always, the Puja will be conducted according to pure rituals at Chenab Road Durga Bari. Bhog will be distributed on three days commencing Saptami. On Shashthi evening, local artistes will present cultural programs. The temple will be decorated with electric lights in various designs.
Key committee members present during the briefing included President Ashok Kumar Bhattacharya, General Secretary Shantanu Bose, Vice Presidents Asim Kumar Kar and Ishwar Chandra Pramanik, and Treasurer Kalachand Kuila.
