SAIL wage revision hangs fire since four years

Gua, Jan 21: The ire of SAIL employees are evident as wage revision has been pending since the past four years. In the latest negotiation meeting with SAIL’s wage board NJCS the workers were represented by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) leaders Dr BK Roy, Dr DK Pandey and Himanshu Bal. the meeting held on January 20 ended in a deadlock. Going by reports, the SAIL management proposed extension of wage revision period from five years to a 10 year period. MGB provisions would be five percent while fitment in new pay scales would be effective from January 2017 and arrear will be calculated from April 2020 till date. The other workmen unions including BMS refused the SAIL management’s proposal. The BMS union leaders warned that if the SAIL management remained adamant on its proposals, the unions would be forced to launch strong agitations in all SAIL units. The information was given by BMS general secretary Vijay Tiu at his office in Gua.
