CII Jharkhand workshop stresses risk awareness and behavioural safety

Jamshedpur, July 15: A workshop on “Advancing Workplace Safety: Risk, Line of Fire & Behaviour” was organised by CII Jharkhand in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. The programme brought together industry professionals and safety practitioners to promote workplace safety through better risk awareness and behavioural practices.

The participants were addressed by Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Convenor, CII Jharkhand Safety Panel and Chief – Safety, Tata Steel Ltd. It was emphasised by him that safety is a mindset and should be practised not only at workplaces but also in daily life. The use of mobile phones while driving and the importance of wearing seat belts were highlighted. He also stressed the need for psychological safety, where employees can report hazards and raise concerns without fear.

“Safety is a journey without a destination,” said Sinha, while urging organisations to strengthen safety culture through effective communication, leadership and recognition of safe behaviour. He said continuous improvement was essential to ensure that every employee returned home safely each day.

A session on Line of Fire hazards was conducted by Sukesh Jha, EHS Senior Manager, Tata Steel Ltd. The importance of identifying workplace hazards, maintaining safe positioning and following safety procedures was highlighted. Participants were encouraged to assess risks before beginning any task.

Another session was conducted by Chandra Sharan, Director, Basera Empowerment (OPC) Pvt Ltd. The importance of physical and mental well-being, healthy habits, yoga, positive thinking and work-life balance was emphasised. Employees were encouraged to value their health and recognise their role in building safe and productive workplaces.
