NITI Aayog to install the facilities after state government shortlists health centers based on gap-analysis
Jamshedpur, June 18: The 100-bed Sadar Hospital In Khasmahal, in the outskirt of Jamshedpur is amongst the 12 hospitals of Jharkhand to be having High Resolution Computerised Tomography (HRCT) machines, MRI machines and chemoanalysers.
The Sadar Hospital in Jamshedpur has been selected for receiving this high-end machines after gap analysis done by the state health department on the existing health infrastructure at state-owned hospitals as part of preparedness to cope up with the predicted third wave of Covid-19 later this year.
High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is a method of examination which is more precise than chest 2-rat in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases of the lung tissue and the airways. Modern CT equipment enables a volume HRCT scan covering the whole lung tissue and was used as a tool to identify damage to lungs during Covid-19.
“Sadar Hospital in Jamshedpur would be getting one HRCT, one chemoanalysers and one MRI machines from the Central government through NITI Aayog. The Sadar Hospital in Jamshedpur along with other 11 aspirational districts have been identified after gap analysis of infrastructure. These hospitals are in urgent requirement of HRCT, MRI machines and chemoanalysers,” said a source in the state health department.
Additional chief secretary health, Arun Kumar Singh has written a letter to advisor (e-mobility) NITI Aayog, Subhendu Jyoti Sinha for early allocation of the machines to the different hospitals of Jharkhand and also facilitate installations in the proposed sites at the earliest.
The other hospitals in Jharkhand which would be getting the three advanced medical diagnostic machines include PJM Medical College and Hospital, Dumka, S.S.B Medical College and Hospital, Hazaribagh, M College and Hospital, Palamau along with Sadar Hospitals at Ranchi, West Singhbhum, Giridih, Garhwa, Simdega, Gumla, Bokaro and Godda.
The health department additional chief secretary health has also wrriten to health ministry for changing of location of PSA plants from BG Hospital Bokaro to Sadar Hospital in the same district as the BG Hospital already has a setup of oxygen supply via liquid medical oxygen tank and manifold system.
Significantly, Sadar Hospital in Jamshedpur recently had the blood component separation unit foundation stone laid virtually by state health minister Banna Gupta. The work for the room construction is in a final stage and blood components separator machine will be functional in couple of months.
Located at the eastern part of the city, Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal has a blood bank, having a capacity to store 100 units of blood. Significantly, an RT-PCR lab is also going to be set up at the Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal .
Significantly, the Sadar Hospital has been converted into a Covid hospital and a large number of patients coming from the eastern fringe area of the city were treated during the pandemic. While isolation wards have been set up in the district hospitals in the 19 districts, Jamshedpur Sadar Hospital also has a four-bed isolation ward.
On Thursday, the state added 146 more Covid positive cases taking the active case load to 1946 as 443 patients recovered and discharged from hospitals of Jharkhand. The day saw only three deaths due to Covid taking the total mortality figure to 5095.
