Sacred Heart Convent girls bag top spot at JOGGA Chess Championship

Jamshedpur, May 4: Ishan Gupta of Carmel Junior College has been crowned the winner of the Jamshedpur Old Girls and Guys Association (JOGGA) Inter-school Chess Championship 2017 in the senior boys category.

The championship hosted by JH Tarapore School concluded on Thursday which saw Kumar Utkarsh of Rajendra Vidyalaya bag the top position in the junior boys category.

In the senior girls category Pracheta Agarwal of Sacred Heart Convent School won the championship while in the junior girls category Dyuti Chakraborty also of Sacred Heart Convent School was declared the winner.

In the school trophy Sacred Heart Convent School comprising of Dyuti Chakraborty, P.Shruthi and Koulini Yamijala scored 16 points and were declared the winner in the junior girls category followed by Carmel Junior College comprising of Druhti Shah, Deepika Roy Chowdhury and Aastha Rani Bhuyan scored 14.5 points.

In the senior girls category Pracheta Agarwal, Kaushiki Sarkar and Priyashi Agarwal of Sacred Heart Convent School scored 15.5 points to bag top position while JH Tarapore with Pratistha Prasad, Pariza Das and Shubhangi Verma scored 15 points to seal the second spot.

In Junior boys Rajendra Vidyalaya with 15.5 points was the winner followed by KPS Kadma. In the senior boys Carmel Junior College scored 18.5 points to win the championship while Motilal Nehru Public School scored 13.5 points and was adjudged the runner-up.

Jamshedpur Old Girls and Guys Association (JOGGA) Inter-school Chess Championship 2017 was organized by J.H.Tarapore School from 2nd to 4th May, 2017. Ace Archer Deepika Kumari presided as the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony.

A total of over 234 players from 22 different JOGGA affiliated schools of the city competed for the top spot. Bailey Bodhanwala, social worker and Chairman of Tarapore Schools gave away the prizes to the winners.

The Arbiters team comprised of Jayant Kumar Bhuyan (Chief Arbiter) , Ashok Varma (Dy. Arbiter) , K.P.Sharma , Chiranjee Lal, A.K.Singh and Shashank Shekhar.
