Jamshedpur: Villagers of Lepotola under Bhatin panchayat in Jadugora are facing acute water crisis these days.
Due to lack of alternative resources, they are forced to fetch water from Gurra river situated some two kilometers away under the scorching sun.
Sources said a total of eight hand pumps were installed in the village by the state government. Out of these, six are lying dysfunctional for the last four months. As many as 200 tribal families residing here are now dependent on just two hand pumps for their daily water needs.
The villagers said the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department officials had failed to repair the hand pumps in time and provide relief to them in the peak summer season.
