Jamshedpur, Aug 29: RVS College of Engineering and Technology celebrated National Sports Day with a special program dedicated to the memory of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The event, organized under the guidance of AICTE, New Delhi, carried the theme “Ek Ghanta, Khel Ke Maidan Mein” (One Hour on the Playground).
The chief guest, Gurmeet Singh, Director of the Hockey Academy, was warmly received by Dean Dr. Sharat Chandra Mahato, Prof. Krishan Murari, and Dr. Sushant Mahanti. In his inaugural address, Mr. Singh emphasized the unifying spirit of sports, remarking, “Sports teach us that regardless of our religion, language, color, or beliefs – on the field, we are all one.” Students highlighted this message with a march-past during the program.
The second session featured Dr. Nagendra Singh, founder of Ganga Memorial Hospital, who spoke on health awareness in modern life. He urged students to adopt healthy lifestyles, avoid addiction, and stay away from drugs.
Earlier, Dr. Sushant Mahanti, Dr. S.P. Singh, and Dr. Surya Bahadur welcomed the guests with a sapling, shawl, and memento. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vikram Sharma.
