Rukhsar Khanam declared Best Athlete at Jamshedpur Women’s University Sports Meet

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Women’s University marked the conclusion of inaugural annual sports meet on Saturday, with a vibrant closing ceremony held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. The event, which exuded enthusiasm and spirited competition, took place in the presence of esteemed dignitaries.

The closing session commenced with the traditional tribal dance, welcoming distinguished guests. Sanjay Kumar, Group DIG, CRPF Jamshedpur, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Jiren Topno, Head, CSR Tribal Culture, Tata Steel was the guest of honour.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, Registrar Dr. Rajendra Jaiswal, DSW Dr. Kiswara Ara, and Sports and Cultural Chairman Dr. Sanatan Deep.

Dr. Sanatan Deep, the Sports and Cultural Chairman, delivered the welcome address, acknowledging the participants for their outstanding performances and expressing gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta for her unwavering support.

The dignitaries were felicitated with shawls, momentum, and flower pots by Vice Chancellor. A graceful yoga demonstration showcased the talents of the university’s Yoga department students.

Chief guest Sanjay Kumar emphasized the importance of sports in students’ lives, sharing his childhood love for sports. Guest of honour Jiren Topno discussed the relationship between sports skills and life, underscoring the significance of sports for mental fitness.

Vice Chancellor delivered the presidential address, extending her appreciation to the committee members and Dr. Sanatan Deep for the successful organization of the university’s first sports annual meet in 2023. Certificates and medals were awarded to winners in various sports categories, with Rukhsar Khanam securing the Best Athlete and Champion award.

Winners in different categories included Sweta Kumari Mahto, Jaya Kumari, Aditi Kumari, Ekta Sharma, and others. A fast walking race was organized for teaching and non-teaching staff, with winners recognized by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta.

Registrar Dr. Rajendra Jaiswal gave the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, organizers, and participants for their contributions. The closing ceremony concluded with the lowering of the Sports flag of Jamshedpur Women’s University, accompanied by the National Anthem.
