RPF cracks down at Tatanagar station, youth held with 40 bottles of foreign liquor

Jamshedpur, Nov 17: Acting on a tip-off received by Chakradharpur Rail Division senior commandant P. Kutty, security was intensified at Tatanagar railway station.

Following the directive, RPF Post Tatanagar in-charge Rakesh Mohan kept a close watch on suspicious activities, leading to a major breakthrough on Sunday.

During a special joint inspection drive conducted by the RPF flying squad, led by officer Balbir Prasad, thorough checks were carried out across the platforms and station premises.

In the process, the team intercepted a youth and recovered a large quantity of foreign liquor from his bag.

The arrested youth has been identified as Adarsh Kumar. He was found carrying 40 bottles of white-brand foreign liquor, allegedly intended to be transported to Bihar.

During interrogation, Adarsh failed to provide any satisfactory explanation.

Following preliminary questioning, the RPF handed him over to the Excise Department, Jamshedpur, along with the seized liquor, for further legal action.

According to RPF officials, liquor smuggling to Bihar tends to spike during festivals and special occasions.

In view of this, intensive checking drives will continue at railway stations, and officials asserted that no laxity will be tolerated in security procedures.
