Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies: Dr Banita Sahay
Jamshedpur, Aug 4: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City in association with Jamshedpur Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (JOGS) and Brahmanand Hospital organized breastfeeding and breast cancer awareness session in Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) on Thursday, August 4.
Final year graduation and post graduate students of the university attended the session.
Keynote speaker for the session was Dr Banita Sahay, MGM consultant and teaching faculty. She emphasized on importance of breastfeeding for both baby and mother. ‘Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies,” Dr Sahay added.
She also spoke about certain myths pertaining to breastfeeding and breast cancer and the importance of its early detection.
Teaching faculty along with students participated with great enthusiasm and asked questions.
University examination controller Dr Rama Shubhramanyam was very delighted with the seamless organization and praised Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City for the initiative.
Surabhi from Brahmananda hospital introduced the free cancer diagnostic facility available at Brahmananda hospital.
With the aim to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies, World Breastfeeding Week is annually celebrated from 1st August to 7th August every year.
