Rotary Jamshedpur Steel City launches awareness on population

Jamshedpur, July 11: To mark the World Population Day, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City launched awareness campaign among workers and highlighted the problems of ever-increasing population.

Rotarylets Tegveer Singh Kathuria, a class 11 student at The Doon School, Dehradun along with Manpreet Singh visited Utkal Automobile in Adityapur Industrial Area and informed the workers that smaller families with two children instead of four will reduce the burden on health care and enable the families to spend more on the upbringing of children and their education.

“We are sitting on a time bomb that can explode at any time and the data clearly shows that the path on which India is moving is catastrophic. Everyone is celebrating world population day on 11th July, this is an excellent effort to create awareness among people about the issues that overpopulation can cause,” said Tegveer, adding, “Even though the country’s population has risen by 6 to 7 times, the geographical area is same and the natural resources like air, water etc., will not increase. There will be more pressure on land, increasing urbanisation and demand for better health care, education and infrastructure as well as jobs will increase.”
