Rotary Jamshedpur pays candlelight tribute to martyrs

Jamshedpur: Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur organized an event on Monday to show solidarity towards the CRPF personnel killed in terrorist attack in Pulwama last week.

All the local Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur, Lion’s Club of Jamshedpur, Lion’s Club of Jamshedpur Steel City, Lion’s Club of Adityapur, Lion’s Club of Jamshedpur Femina, Lion’s Club Centinary, Lion’s Club of Kalimati, Inner Wheel Clubs of Jamshedpur, teachers from Kerala Public Schools, DBMS, Madrasi Sammelani, Students of Co Operative College, and XLRI joined the peaceful and silent March holding lighted candles from Beldih Club to Army Camp.

Army Head Colonel RK Chouhan and other officers received them and the procession settled into a small gathering in which a framed message of “Shraddhanjali” was read out and presented to Colonel Chouhan. President of Rotary Club Kety Bhathena expressed her gratitude towards all who joined hands and thanked other rotarians including Gian Taneja, Aruna, Sharat Chandran, Mona, Vaidyanathan and the team of volunteers.

A procession of 400 people representing various organizations including DAV Public School, Bistupur, Jamshedpur Parsee Stree Mandal, Vice Chancellor, Teachers and students of Arka Jain University marked the event.

Sharat Chandran read out the message of Shraddhanjali which brought tears to the eyes of all. The burning candles were planted on the platform to keep alive the memory of departed souls. The observance of 2 minutes silence with tearful eyes concluded the program.
