Jamshedpur: The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized an inspiring session on “Global Warming and the Role of Youth” at Motilal Nehru Public School. Environmentalist and the club’s Environment Director, Dr. Bikrant Tiwari, addressed the students, emphasizing the need for young individuals to take responsibility for natural resources.
Dr. Tiwari urged students to question their elders at home about waste management, the importance of rainwater harvesting, and the necessity of using organic food products. He encouraged them to segregate wet and dry waste and motivate their families to do the same.
During the session, students actively shared their thoughts on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, waste management, and rainwater harvesting. Ritu, a Class 9 student, suggested that every student should be encouraged to plant a tree on their birthday. Anant raised concerns about the lack of strict regulations against dumping waste in rivers, while Anushka advocated for restrictions on polluting vehicles and the promotion of public transportation.
The students expressed their desire to form an “Active Eco Warrior Club” to take proactive steps for environmental conservation. Dr. Tiwari answered students’ questions and appreciated the joint efforts of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West and MNPS in spreading awareness.
The event was attended by Rotary Club President Dr. Amit Mukherjee, Deepti Singh, J.B. Singh, Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Ashok Jha, Anupama Sehgal, Kamlendu Shukla, along with school secretary Shiv Shankar Mishra, the principal, and faculty members.
