Jamshedpur, Oct 12: In a week-long celebration of International Girl Child Day, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West took meaningful strides to underscore the significance of girls’ education, rights and empowerment.
This global observance, designated by the United Nations since 2012, serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges girls face worldwide and the imperative to invest in their well-being and leadership.
As part of their commitment to this cause, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a series of awareness and motivational programs at Rajendra Balika Madhya Vidyalaya, Parsudih.
The week-long celebration culminated in a significant initiative as the Rotary Club sponsored 60 girls from the school for a 3-month training course in Taekwondo for self-defense—a move aimed at empowering the girls and instilling a sense of confidence.
A highlight of the celebrations was an insightful awareness talk on Advocacy for the Protection of Girls and Gender Equality. Past President and Advocate Sangeeta Jha shed light on new avenues of life for these young, teenage girls. Such sessions not only impart valuable knowledge but also contribute to the personality development of the younger generation, fostering confidence and resilience.
Under the leadership of Rotary Club Jamshedpur West President Neeta Agarwal, Secretary Ashok Jha, Jt. Secretary Dipti Singh, and other key members of the club, the week-long sessions were efficiently organized.
The club received unwavering support from school principal Urmi Dasgupta, Rajendra Balika Parsudih, and the dedicated school staff including Manjulata Sinha, Santosh Kumar Mishra, Namita Pradhan, Mousumi Gope, and Rajni Kinchan.
