Seraikela, May 26: High velocity wind accompanied with thundershowers brought down mercury by a few notches in Seraikela-Kharsawan giving a much needed respite to residents from the scorching heat.

But it had adverse effect on the life of the people in the around the region as strong winds blew away temporary roofs of several houses while motorbikes and bicycles were seen lying on the roads.

People who were sitting inside their homes suddenly saw their roofs being blown away by the winds and rain water directly poured inside the houses causing damage to the furniture and household materials.

There was no report of any causality but the several of the residents suffered injuries. Trees were uprooted in many parts of the district and some fell on the main roads causing huge traffic jams.

Commuters were the worst effected as the time the destruction was caused they were leaving their offices for home. Some of them ran for safety while many of them seem to enjoy the rain after a long gap giving them much needed respite from heat.

Seraikela which is suffering from lack of development has several cracked and potholed roads as water clogged making it difficult for the commuters to drive.
