Rohini, Manoj Murali and Saheb stoke the perennial fire of Rabindra Sangeet

Jamshedpur, Jan 23: Leading Rabindra Sangit torchbearers from Kolkata who have made their mark in the heart and soul of music lovers and connoisseurs, once again proved their merit through their immaculate renditions of the Vishwa Kobi’s multihued lyrical compositions.  On the third and concluding day of the annual Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan organized by Tagore Society at the spacious Rabindra Bhawan Auditorium, a teeming audience was entranced by young veteran Rohini Roy Chowdhury, hailed virtuoso Manoj Murali Nair and the indomitable Saheb Chattopadhyay.

However, a mention has to be made of the instrumental artistes who added to the success of this three-day annual Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan so dedicatedly organized by Tagore Society through 39 years. The instrumental maestros were Kolkata’s popular tabaliya Biplab Mandal, violinist Sandipan Ganguly, keyboard magician Subroto Mukherjee and Manjira specialist Sanjivan Acharya. There expertise was lauded by the famed Rabindra Sangit exponents. Tagore Society General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury, while thanking everyone for the success of the 39th annual Rabindra Sangit Sammelan, observed, “We have to preserve our heritage by organizing and hosting such events so that the younger generation can carry the baton of this Rabindra Sangit legacy through generations. To further our purpose, we have been conducting Rabindra Sangit classes and contests to unearth talents in this genre.”
