Palamu: In a significant development, Satyanand Bhokta, the only MLA representing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Jharkhand from the Chatra Assembly seat, and the Labor and Planning Minister in the Hemant Cabinet, has officially staked his claim for the Chatra Lok Sabha seat. The Chatra Lok Sabha constituency holds a unique distinction as the only seat in India where no local MP has been elected since its inception in 1957.
As preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections gain momentum, political activity has intensified in Jharkhand. With a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, candidates from various parties are vying for their claim in the electoral arena. Satyanand Bhokta, aligning himself with the India Alliance, which is expected to be the opposition front in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, has asserted that he is the strongest contender for the Chatra Lok Sabha seat within the alliance.
Bhokta has not only expressed his claim but has also provided reasoning behind it. He highlighted his role as the sole RJD MLA in Jharkhand and his position as the Labor and Planning Minister in the Hemant Cabinet as qualifications that make him a strong candidate. RJD workers are actively engaging in public relations campaigns across key areas, including Panki, Manatu, Lesliganj, Manika, Latehar, and Simaria, to bolster support for Bhokta’s candidacy.
