Registration camp held for unorganized workers at Agrico

Jamshedpur: Welfare of unorganized workers is important for the development of the country. This was observed today by Lalit Das, convenor of city-based NGO Samarpan and son of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, during the inauguration of a registration camp at Agrico.

The registration camp was organized by the Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development Department of the state government.

Speaking as the chief guest, Lalit Das said that as many as 387 workers were registered online in the camp. He said the purpose of the camp was to ensure the welfare of workers engaged in various construction works. He said the state government was currently running one and a half dozen schemes in Jharkhand for the welfare and development of unorganized workers.

Das said that a large number of unorganized workers were deprived of the benefits of these schemes due to lack of awareness and initiative. He said the daily workers were so busy in their lives that they were unable to find out as to what was the government doing for them.

The NGO has decided to organize such registration camps in other parts of the city as well. The camps will be held in Burmamines, Golmuri, Birsanagar and Sidhgora, said the outfit convenor.

Among those who came for registration at the camp today, a sizeable section of people were from Babudih, Bhuiyadih, Gwala Busti, Birsanagar, Nagadungri, Bagunhatu, Bagun Nagar, Baridih Basti, Gwala Basti, Birsanagar, Golmuri and Sitaramdera.

Local labour enforcement officer Anand Shekhar, computer operator Shiva Lohar and Sumit Das played important role in carrying out online registration of the workers.
