Jamshedpur: No Polythene Day was observed in the city on Sunday by the district administration in collaboration with various city-based organizations and the people from different walks of life on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
With todayís programme, the month long campaign against polythene launched by the district administration has concluded.
A large number of representatives of various city-based organizations were present during the campaign.
The organizations that participated in the programme included Lionís Club, Jago Jamshedpur Jago, Civil Defence, Red FM, Change India, Brahmarshi Tiger, Mukhi Samaj, Hindustan Mitra Mandal, Swami Vivekanand Seva Sansthan and Ambedkar Sena.
With a view to mark the occasion and spread greater awareness among the people on the hazards of using polythene, a rally was organized by the children of Sri Krishna Public School, Bagbera. Many awareness programmes were organized in Potka, Patamda and Chakulia in support of the No Polythene campaign.
