Jamshedpur: No Polythene Day was observed in the city on Sunday by the district administration in collaboration with various city-based organizations and the people from different walks of life on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
With today�s programme, the month long campaign against polythene launched by the district administration has concluded.
A large number of representatives of various city-based organizations were present during the campaign.
The organizations that participated in the programme included Lion�s Club, Jago Jamshedpur Jago, Civil Defence, Red FM, Change India, Brahmarshi Tiger, Mukhi Samaj, Hindustan Mitra Mandal, Swami Vivekanand Seva Sansthan and Ambedkar Sena.
With a view to mark the occasion and spread greater awareness among the people on the hazards of using polythene, a rally was organized by the children of Sri Krishna Public School, Bagbera. Many awareness programmes were organized in Potka, Patamda and Chakulia in support of the No Polythene campaign.
