Jamshedpur: The ASISC Regional Swimming Championship 2014 was held at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday.
The chief guest of the opening ceremony was Tarun Daga, Managing Director of The Tinplate Company of India Limited. He declared the championship open and released the balloons. He motivated the participants and asked them to do well in sports. Participants took the Sportsman�s Oath on the occasion.
A scintillating dance performance was also put up by the students of DBMS English School. The chief guest for the Closing ceremony was Purnima Mahato, Dronacharya Awardee and senior coach of Tata Archery Academy.
She gave away the prizes to the winners and had given the Championship Trophy. All participants were from Bihar and Jharkhand Region. Altogether 32 events for junior and senior boys and girls were conducted for a total of 140 participants.
All participants were given participation certificates. Winners were given Medals and Merit Certificates. The First and Second position participants qualified for the ASISC -National Swimming Championship which is going to be held at Bengaluru from 16th Nov. to 21stNov. 2014.
