Recoveries outnumber new Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur

1218 persons recover against 621 new cases; three more patients succumb to coronavirus

Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Jamshedpur witnessed a gradual decline in the COVID-19 cases.

City on Sunday clocked 621 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the total caseload to 62,918.

However, 1218 people recuperated from the deadly disease during the same period, taking the total number of those cured in Steel City 54,676.

The death toll has increased to 1090 after three more persons succumbed to the infection.

The number of discharges/recoveries has increased to 54,676 and the active cases have reduced to 7152.

78-year-old Sonari woman and 46-year-old Telco woman succumbed to the virus at TMH while 73-year-old woman of Chotta Govindpur died at Tata Motors Hospital.   

Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – was 9.28 percent with the latest addition in cases. 6691 samples were tested on Sunday.

Fresh infections on Sunday total active cases in the city to 7152.Sonari area of Steel City reported the maximum 91 cases on Sunday. 74 cases have come from Telco, 71 from Mango, 68 from Kadma, 47 from Bistupur.

The positivity rate rose to 2.95 per cent in Jamshedpur.

The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 62918 and the death count is now 1090, according to the latest health bulletin.

The new cases came out of the 6691 tests conducted on Sunday. There are 7152 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.

6691 COVID-19 tests, including 1316 RT-PCR, 5072 RAT and 303 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 801372 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 87.38% while the mortality rate is 1.73%.

So far in Jamshedpur 2135296 samples have been collected out of which 2133251 have been tested and 2070333 have turned out to be negative.
