Ranchi, April 26: Jharkhand is currently in the grip of an unprecedented heat wave, causing discomfort to its residents. The scorching temperatures have forced people indoors, with roads deserted until late noon.
Seraikela Kharsawan district experienced the highest temperature recorded at 45 degrees Celsius on Friday, while Baharagora reached 44.1 degrees Celsius. Jamshedpur sweltered at a high of 43.7 degrees Celsius with a minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius.
Ranchi’s temperature remained below 40 degrees Celsius. However, the Meteorological Department has warned of a further rise in temperatures.

The maximum temperatures recorded across various districts of Jharkhand on Friday were Ranchi: 39.6 degrees Celsius, Hazaribagh: 39.6 degrees Celsius, Jamtara: 42.8 degrees Celsius,
Baharagora: 44.1 degrees Celsius, Latehar: 39.4 degrees Celsius, Pakur: 43.7 degrees Celsius, Ramgarh: 41.3 degrees Celsius, Sahebganj: 42.3 degrees Celsius, Simdega: 42.1 degrees Celsius, West Singhbhum: 43.3 degrees Celsius.
Heat wave alert issued for multiple districts in Jharkhand
The Meteorological Department issued a heat wave alert for several districts across various divisions of Jharkhand on Saturday. According to forecasts, the heat wave situation was expected in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts of Kolhan Division, as well as in Bokaro and Dhanbad districts of North Chhotanagpur Division, and in Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj districts of Santal Division.

The maximum temperatures in Seraikela, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Pakur, and Godda are likely to exceed 44 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bokaro, Garhwa, Dhanbad, and Palamau are expected to experience temperatures around 43 degrees Celsius. In Simdega, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, and Sahebganj, temperatures are estimated to reach around 42 degrees Celsius.
