Rape and murder case unveiled in Chaibasa, Police Retrieve body buried in secret grave

Chaibasa: A harrowing incident unfolded in Kashia-Pecha village of Gua police station area under Chaibasa district, where a 15-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered. Shockingly, powerful individuals in the village pressured the girl’s mother to keep the incident quiet, preventing her from reporting the crime to the police and compelling her to bury the body discreetly.
A week after the incident occurred, the girl’s mother finally mustered the courage to file a police report. On Monday, in the presence of a magistrate, the police exhumed the girl’s body from the clandestine grave and sent it for post-mortem examination. The father of the deceased girl, who is currently in jail for another case, learned about his daughter’s murder and burial in the village three to four days after the tragic event.
Upon discovering the grim truth, he urged his wife to file a police complaint. The incident dates back to January 3, around 1 pm, when the girl went to graze cattle in the Bangurkiya forest near the village. When she did not return, her mother, family members, and villagers initiated a search. On January 7, the girl’s body was discovered in suspicious conditions in the forest, approximately one kilometer away from the village. The body was wrapped with cloth around the mouth and neck, with a visible wound on the head.
The villagers themselves brought the girl’s lifeless body back to the village. Despite the mother’s intention to report the crime to the police, she was thwarted by influential individuals. Consequently, the body was discreetly buried. The circumstances strongly suggest the possibility of rape preceding the heinous murder, raising concerns about the safety and justice for the victim.
