Seraikella : The court of district and sessions judge of neighbouring Saraikela-Kharsawan district, K K Srivastava rewarded 10 years of rigorous jail term to an accused of rape and sexual exploitation. According to prosecution Sricharan Kewat, a resident of Atargram village under Ichagarh police station had sexually exploited and raped a lady on false assurance of marriage.
He, later, also declined the order of local panchayat which had urged him to get married to the victim. A case in this regard was lodged on June 4, 2011.The court held him guilty under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced the punishment. He was also imposed with a cost of Rs. 5000. In case of non-payment of the cost the he would have to face 3 months of simple imprisonment.
