Jamshedpur: Sunil Kumar Prasad, a resident of Durga Maidan, Bara Gamharia, and owner of Ananya Jewellers, who was arrested on charges of purchasing stolen jewellery, has been released on bail following a court order.
The case involves a theft that occurred on December 7 at the residence of Amit Solanki, a resident of New Baradwari. During the incident, miscreants allegedly broke into the house and decamped with gold ornaments, including jewellery and bangles, worth around Rs 20 lakh from a cupboard locker.
During the investigation, police arrested Dheeraj Tantubai in connection with the theft.

Based on his disclosure, Sunil Kumar Prasad was taken into custody, and a gold necklace was recovered from his possession. The accused thief reportedly told police that the necklace had been sold for Rs 70,000.
During the hearing, advocates Sudhir Kumar Pappu and Babita Jain, appearing on behalf of Sunil Kumar Prasad, contended that the recovered necklace had been kept merely as collateral and not purchased knowingly as stolen property. The defence also argued that the police had failed to conduct a test identification parade of either the accused jeweller or the recovered ornament. The lawyer submitted that the accused, aged about 60 years, has no previous criminal antecedents.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Six) Namita Chandra granted bail to the accused. Following the submission of the bail bond on Tuesday, Sunil Kumar Prasad was released from judicial custody.
