Ranchi, Feb 15: The 53rd Senior Men’s Handball Championship is set to take place from February 22 to 26, 2025, at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Ranchi. This marks the first time the prestigious tournament will be hosted in the Jharkhand capital.
The championship will be inaugurated on February 22 at 3:00 pm, while the closing ceremony is scheduled for February 26 at 12:30 am. Around 30 teams, comprising approximately 600 players, are expected to participate in the event.

A preparatory meeting for the tournament was held at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium under the chairmanship of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, President of the Jharkhand State Handball Association, along with General Secretary Khurshid Khan. The meeting, attended by senior players and committee members, focused on forming an organizing committee to ensure the smooth execution of the championship.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Kumar Sahu has been appointed as the chairman of the championship. Several key members, including Treasurer Firoz Khan, Vice President Raghavendra Sharma, and other officials like Poonam Roy, S.A. Siddiqui, Shambhu Sinha, and Amit Pathak, were present at the meeting.
The tournament is expected to showcase high-level competition and sportsmanship, bringing handball enthusiasts from across the country to Ranchi. The Jharkhand State Handball Association has urged all players and organizers to contribute to making the event a grand success.
