Ranchi, Sept 24: In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, Ranchi city administration announced significant changes to its traffic system. These arrangements would remain in effect from September 27 to October 2 to ensure smooth vehicular movement and a safe, congestion-free environment for devotees and visitors.
To prevent traffic snarls, the administration completely restricted the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the festival. From8:00 AM to 4:00 AM the next day, trucks and other large vehicles would not be allowed entry. Only vehicles carrying essential commodities would be permitted, and that too strictly between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Authorities have urged citizens to comply with these rules to enjoy the festival without disruption.
Drop gates have been set up at strategic entry points to stop heavy vehicles. These include Law University, Kanke, Bodeya Ring Road, BIT Ring Road, Route from Khelgaon to Kokar, Route from Durga Soren Chowk to Kantatoli and MakchandToli, Rampur, Kharsidag, Bridgeford School, Satranji School, Birsa Chowk and Shaheed Maidan.
The city’s main arteries will witness strict traffic control. Key route changes include: Main Road: Vehicular movement restricted from Kachari Chowk to Shahid Chowk, Firayalal Chowk and Sujata Chowk. Vehicles from Sujata Chowk can travel only up to Sainik Market and GEL Church Complex.Piska Morh to Ratu Road: Small vehicles will be diverted via Meenakshi Cinema Morh, Pahadi Mandir, Kishoreganj Chowk and then Harmu Chowk.Harmu to Kishoreganj/Ratu Road: Four-wheelers will be allowed only up to Kishoreganj Chowk. Two-wheelers can travel from Kishoreganj to Piska Morh through Pahadi Mandir and Meenakshi Cinema Morh.Harmu Bypass Road: Small four-wheelers heading to Piska Morh will pass near the BJP office, via PeeparToli, Katla Morh, and Hehal Zone.
Kanke Road: Vehicles may proceed to Kachari Chowk via Zakir Hussain Park and Radium Road.Lalpur Chowk to Kachari Chowk: Vehicles will be allowed only up to the JPSC office.Bariatu Road to Albert Ekka Chowk: Vehicles will stop at Ramgarh Trekker Stand on Line Tank Road.Dangratoli Chowk to Sarjana Chowk: Vehicles can travel only up to Mission Chowk.Kokar to Lalpur: The stretch will function as a one-way route. Vehicles heading from Kokar to Lalpur must divert via Kantatoli.Kantatoli to Sujata Chowk: Vehicles may travel via Bahu Bazar, Karbala Chowk and Ratan PP.
Special parking areas have been earmarked to reduce roadside congestion. Arrangements include:Sainik Market and GEL Church Complex: For vehicles coming from Doranda and Sujata Chowk to Main Road.District School and Balkrishna School Campus: For visitors traveling from Firayal Lal to Bakri Bazaar.Mission Chowk: For vehicles traveling from Dangratoli to Sarjana Chowk.Railway Recruitment Board to Chutia Thana Morh: For visitors heading to Station Road pandals.
Sadhu Yadav Ground: For those traveling from Lalpur to Kokar.
Ram Lakhan Yadav College: For devotees going from Khelgaon to Kokar pandal.New Market Auto Stand: For vehicles from Kanke Road to Bakri Bazaar.Bada Talab River Ground: For visitors traveling from Harmu Bypass Road to Bakri Bazaar.Durga Mandir Jaiswal Petrol Pump: For vehicles from Piska Morh to Durga Mandir Chowk, Ratu Road.NagababaKhatalParking and Zakir Hussain Park: For devotees from Bariatu Road to Bakri Bazaar.Muktidham to Kishoreganj roadside: For those coming via Harmu Bypass.Harmu Maidan: Dedicated parking for the pandal near Harmu Chowk.Bariatu Maidan: For the pandal near Bariatu Housing.
Yogoda Satsang Math &St. John’s School (Bahu Bazar): For pandals near Ranchi Railway Station: Next to Cambrian School: For pandal near CMPD.
Shahid Maidan: For pandal near Old Vidhan Sabha Maidan.
The traffic police have appealed to residents to follow diversions, use designated parking lots, and cooperate with volunteers for a hassle-free festive experience.
