Police issue advisory to prevent cyber frauds
Jamshedpur, June 15: On the instructions of the Union Home Ministry regarding the prevention of increasing cybercrime in the country, a cybercrime awareness campaign has been started in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
On the second day of Cyber Crime Awareness Week, a cyber security rally was taken out in Jamshedpur, which was flagged off by SSP Dr M Tamilavanan. He said that this rally will visit around the city and give awareness messages to the people to avoid cybercrime. He gave information about various awareness programs being run during the awareness week. People will get a lot of benefit from this awareness campaign lasting for 1 week and the cases of cybercrime will come down. During this all the police officers of the district were present. On the second day, the awareness rally started from the historic Jubilee Park. The police have also issued advisory to prevent cyber frauds.

Concerned over the rising hi-tech, cyber crime cases, the East Singhbhum district police have decided to strengthen its mechanism for controlling cybercrime in the steel city. The crime has shot up this year, going by the increasing number of petitions and complaints that the police are receiving.
All the police officers and policemen have to be computer savvy so that a criminal can be located and nabbed without making any further delay. An official pointed out that for making the police stations cyber savvy, they must get the police stations equipped with computers and the necessary accessories.
Revealing about the rising cyber crime in the leading cities, the official said that the department has decided to approach the common people to help curbing the crime. He also pointed out that the department has opened separate cyber cells in almost all the district police headquarters, and they are now planning to promote cyber education and training to the students reading in schools and colleges.
” Complaints of on average five cyber crimes are reported with the police stations across the steel city every day. For detection of such crime, the cyber cells set up in each of the police stations get activated. But after a cyber thana is set up in the city, all such cases can be detected effectively and within a very short period of time,” said a senior police officer while talking to this correspondent.
The police officer on condition of anonymity said that even in the cases of regular crime like loot, snatching and murder, the investigating police officers of such cases may take the help of the cyber thana for the things like deriving call details records (CDRs) and tracing mobile tower locations.
