Noamundi, May 15: The lightening and the thunderstorm damaged several houses in Jagnnathpur sub-division on Saturday night.
Dozens of thatched houses and tiles covered houses were damaged at Badjamda panchayat and Mongra panchayat of Jagnnathpur block. Electric poles were also uprooted due to violent wind.
The rain and storm rendered many people homeless.
After visiting the villages, the mukhiya of Mongra panchayat submitted an application with the BDO Jagnnathpur demanding compensation from the crisis management fund to the homeless families.
