Jamshedpur: The Ministry of Railways, accepting the demand of the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR), has allowed the use of the Central Staff Benefit Fund for railway personnel and their families to purchase essential equipment at hospitals providing vaccination and corona treatment for free.
Dr. M. Raghuvaiya, Secretary, NFIR, had twice written a letter to the Chairman of the Railway Board in this regard on 22 April and 12 May 2021, in which all the zones of the Railway were sought to be instructed in this regard. Central Executive Member of NFIR cum Railway Men’s Congress Chakradharpur Divisional Convenor Shashi Mishra welcomed the move of the railways and said that Indian Railways, which is giving impetus to the economy of the country in times of crisis, has long asked the state governments to apply their vaccine.
Railway workers are forced to wander for the vaccine. There was a deep anger against the administration among the railwaymen about this. It is a matter of relief that the Divisional Railway Managers at the local level are definitely requesting the Health Department of the State Government to prioritize the railway personnel in the vaccination and make more and more vaccines available to them, leading to some improvement in the situation. But due to the apathy of the state government, the railway frontline worker could not get the vaccine.
