Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, July 2: In a move to ensure safe train operations during the monsoon season, the railway authorities have announced the resumption of night line patrolling from the second week of July. A dedicated team from the Tatanagar Railway Engineering Department will conduct patrolling from 10 pm to 6 am, covering the stretch from Tatanagar station to Salgajhuri cabin in the east and Jugsalai crossing in the west.

The night patrolling initiative aims to monitor and prevent incidents such as soil sinking under the rail tracks during heavy rains. Equipped with walkie-talkies, railway workers will promptly report any faults to station duty staff to maintain smooth train operations. The Railway Board has also provided raincoats, shoes, caps, and torches to over 3500 line duty employees, including gangmen, pointmen, and gatemen, to ensure their safety during rainy conditions.

Additionally, as part of enhanced safety measures, line duty railway employees have been instructed to wear bright jackets over their uniforms and raincoats to enhance visibility for engine drivers.
