Jamshedpur: A goods train guard working at Tatanagar railway station, Santosh Kumar, has lodged a complaint against the head constable of Railway Protection Force, identified as Afsar Ali, for allegedly assaulting and hurting him grievously.
He said he was beaten up by Ali on board Shalimar-Kurla Express train between Raj Kharsawan and Sini railway stations late Monday evening.
Two train drivers accompanied Kumar in the compartment where he was assaulted by the accused.
Kumar complained to GRP officials at Raj Kharsawan, but the authorities there did not register a case and instead advised him to go to Sini rail police station.
In this connection, the senior RPF commandant of Chakradharpur rail division has ordered a probe into the incident. He said stringent departmental action would be taken against Ali in case the charges are found to be true.
Irked over the incident, many railway guards and drivers met the Area Manager of Tatanagar on Tuesday to demand action against the accused.
The guards of Tatanagar station said they would be meeting the senior commandant of RPF at Chakradharpur to demand action against the accused RPF officer.
