Railway-Forest Department meeting to prevent elephant-train collisions

Kharagpur:Following the recent elephant-train collision involving Train No. 12022, a high-level coordination meeting was held at the office of the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Hijli.

The meeting was chaired by CCF Sandeep Sundriyal and Kharagpur Divisional Railway Manager K.R. Chaudhary. It was attended by senior officials from both the Railway and Forest Departments, including the Chief Wildlife Warden, Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), and Additional DRM (Operations).

Key points discussed included implementation of early warning systems, identification of critical elephant corridors, and the development of time-bound collaborative action plans to prevent future incidents. Both departments reiterated their commitment to wildlife safety and smoother railway operations through enhanced coordination.
