26-Year-Old Indian-Origin Man Stabbed to Death in London

London (IANS): The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation and issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after an attacker stabbed and killed a 26-year-old Indian-origin man in Southall, west London.

Gurbhej Singh

Authorities identified the victim as Gurbhej Singh. Police stated on Saturday that an assailant attacked Singh outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane at 12:30 a.m.

The Metropolitan Police responded to a call from the London Ambulance Service on Wednesday, June 10, reporting a stabbing in the area. When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found two injured men.

Despite the medical staff’s best efforts, Singh succumbed to a knife wound, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Specialist officers are currently supporting his family.

Paramedics also rushed a second injured man, believed to be in his 30s, to the hospital. Doctors have since discharged him after treating his injuries.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Police initially arrested seven men, aged between their early 20s and late 30s, at the scene on suspicion of murder. Following further investigation, detectives released six of them with no further action. They granted bail to the remaining man, who must return to custody at a later date.

Investigators are urging the public to come forward with any information, including CCTV or mobile phone footage, as they continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

“Homicide detectives continue to investigate Mr Singh’s tragic death and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.”

Police continue to examine the sequence of events leading up to the stabbing outside the Southall shop. Officers have not yet established a motive for the attack and are working to identify everyone involved.

The Metropolitan Police reiterated their appeal for witnesses, emphasizing that even small pieces of information could assist the ongoing fatal stabbing investigation.
