Railway Apps making journey comfortable, facilities available ‘on touch’

Jamshedpur, March 30: Railway minister Suresh Prabhu announced in the Railway Budget 2016 plans to launch several facilities, including applications (Apps) for the citizens. Several Apps have started functioning, which are being used by passengers and some are in the process for starting.

As most of the population today uses smart phones, Apps are an important element in their lives and by using them the passengers are making their journey more comfortable.

With the central government focusing on ‘Digital India,’ railways is also not far behind and has made technology an important part of its development agenda and has made plans to provide solutions to every problem ‘On touch’. This would be made possible by the several apps launched by the railways.

The railways has taken the step seeing the usage of social media and increased usage of the internet especially on mobile phones.

Passengers can use these apps and make their journey comfortable. Railway apps can be easily downloaded from goggle play store on android phones and passengers can use them for their benefit.

Through the apps passengers can easily file a complaint, inquire about the schedule arrival and departure of the train, food facility during the journey, cleanliness of the coaches, can avail instant security and inquire about the cab facility from railway stations.

Railways is working with service with smile and has launched different apps for different services including CRIS (Centre for railway information system) through which passengers can directly give their suggestions to railway ministry.

Apart from this, passengers can also file a complaint about the inconvenience during the journey and the complainant can also track the complaint registered through this app.

NTIS (National Train Inquiry System) is another App launched by the railway through which passengers can easily
avail the information and services provided by the railway.

This App will also provide the exact location of the train and also the live information of any railway station.
IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is used by a large population through which tickets of any class can be booked easily. Through IRCTC, passengers can order food through E-catering at various railway stations all over the country. This App also provides facility to cancel the booked ticket.

Clean My Coach App is beneficial for passengers who want to have their seat and coach clean during the journey. After a passenger files complain through the app, housekeeping staff would arrive within minutes.

CMS (Complain Management System) App can used by a passenger to file complaint about inconvenience in getting ticket from counters, misbehavior by TTE, bed role issue along with parcel.

Luggage, food service, cleanliness, unavailability of water and other complains can be directly registered through this app.
