Raids against illegal hooch traders continue in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 21:  Following directives of the District Election Officer (Panchayat) in view of the three tier Panchayat elections (Mango) – 2022, the Excise Department is continuing raids at illegal hooch manufacturing and sale units in the district.

Raids have been carried out in Bhutku, Ranikudar, Tangarsai and Duasini villages under Potka police station were demolished. Mahua brew and dried Mahua flowers that are used in manufacturing country hooch, Mahua, have been destroyed. According to figures made available, 7,000 kg of of dried Mahua seeds and 170 liters of ready liquor were seized and confiscated by raiding teams.

Cases against absconding brewers and sellers of Mahua liquor have been registered. Assistant Commissioner of Excise Department, AK Mishra said that the raids had been launched in the light of the District Election Officer’s (Panchayat) guidelines to ensure free and fair Panchayat polls. Mishra said that the raids against illegal manufacturing and sale of liquor will continue. Hotels and Dhabas along National and State highways were being monitored to thwart such activities, Mishra informed.
