Jamshedpur boy Abhishek gets Silver in National Power Lifting contest

Jamshedpur, May 21:  Abhishek Prateek of Jamshedpur enhanced the pride of Jharkhand by bagging the Silver medal at the 49th National Power Lifting Competition organized in Chhattisgarh. He He participated in the  59 kg category for Seniors. Power lifter from Uttar Pradesh collected the Gold medal and the contestant from Tamil Nadu took the Bronze.

A total of 45 participants were in the senior category fray with power lifters from 18 states participated in the National tourney to vie for top spots in the junior, senior and master categories. Eight power lifters from Jamshedpur participated in this national power lifting event. Coach Shyam Singh Rana expressed his happiness on Abhishek’s achievement.

It may be mentioned here that Shyam Singh Rana who had participated in international meets while representing India, has presently been training youth of Jamshedpur since a pretty long time at his Gamharia academy, Rana Power House. He is a railway employee.

Rana observed, “Today, the youth are unfortunately disoriented. They have a lot of potentials but are unable to identify their hidden talent. It is my ardent appeal to all the youth to come forward in the realms of power lifting and shape their future in this genre of sports.  I landed a job in railways due to my power lifting prowess at national and international events. If I can, the youth too can and I am ever ready to serve their cause in the power lifting arena.”
