Jamshedpur: In a late-night operation, a 12-member team, formed under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, conducted a sudden raid at Sakchi Jail. The surprise inspection, led by SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Mazumdar, aimed to curb any illegal activities within the prison premises.
During the extensive search, officials thoroughly inspected both male and female wards but found no objectionable items. In addition, authorities checked CCTV footage, visitor registers, and the overall prison premises, but no suspicious activity was detected.
District Magistrate Mittal stated that such surprise inspections are conducted at least twice a month as per state government directives. “Organized crime inside prisons can adversely affect law and order. These raids help ensure strict monitoring and eliminate any illegal operations run by inmates,” he added.
The inspection team included City SP Kumar Shivashish, District Under Registrar, Zonal Officer Jamshedpur, DSO, Assistant Settlement Officer, CO Mango, BDO Jamshedpur, AMC Mango Municipal Corporation, SO Axis, and a heavy police force. The operation was conducted following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to maintain jail security and prevent criminal activities.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to stringent prison surveillance, ensuring that law and order remain intact.
