Jamshedpur, March 7: A crucial meeting was held at the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital, Adityapur, to discuss the medical facilities and challenges faced by around two lakh temporary employees and their families in Jamshedpur and nearby areas. The meeting was attended by Medical Superintendent Dr. A.P. Minj, Dr. S.N. Saha, and a delegation from Jharkhand INTUC, led by Jharkhand State INTUC President Rakeshwar Pandey.
During the meeting, the participants acknowledged the current healthcare services provided by ESIC Hospital and appreciated its management. However, they also highlighted several pressing issues and submitted a demand letter outlining key requirements for improving medical facilities in Jamshedpur.
The main demands included:
- Establishment of a super-specialty ESIC hospital in Jamshedpur.
- Addition of dialysis, MRI, CT scan, and treatment facilities for cancer, heart, and kidney-related diseases in the existing hospital.
- Simplification of the registration process and an increase in the number of registration counters.
- Restoration of the referral facility for local hospitals in Jamshedpur.
- Immediate restoration of ambulance services for hospital use and patient transfers.
- Ensuring adequate availability of essential medicines in the hospital.
- Streamlining and expediting the medical expense refund process.
- Formation of a hospital management committee, including local representatives, to discuss and address new facilities and challenges regularly.
The meeting was attended by several senior union leaders and officials, including Tata Wire Employee Union Vice President Shrikant Singh, Golmuri Tinplate Workers Union Vice President and Deputy President Parvinder Singh Sohal, General Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Jharkhand INTUC Treasurer and senior Congress leader Sanjeev Srivastava, East Singhbhum District INTUC President Rajesh Singh Raju, Saraikela-Kharsawan INTUC President K.P. Tiwari, District Vice President Sunil Singh, Tata Power Union General Secretary Pintu Srivastava, and TRF Union General Secretary Anjani Kumar. Several hospital management representatives were also present.
The delegation emphasized the need for immediate action on these demands to enhance healthcare services for workers and their families.
