Jamshedpur, June 26: Raghunath Pandey, president of the Jusco labor union, received a warm welcome upon his return to Jamshedpur after attending the conference of labor representatives from around the world held in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference took place from June 20 to June 22 at the Cape Town Convention Center and saw the participation of 600 labor representatives from various countries. Six delegates represented India in this significant event.
During his address at the conference, Raghunath Pandey, who is also the Secretary of the National INTUC, General Secretary of the Steel Metal Federation, and President of the JUSCO Shramik Union, highlighted the commendable approach of Tata Steel, India’s only company with 40 percent women in its workforce and inclusive employment practices that extend to the transgender community. He expressed pride in these initiatives and encouraged labor representatives to advocate for similar practices in all companies, following the example set by Tata Steel.
In his speech, Pandey strongly criticized the Central Government of India for implementing the “Four Labor Codes,” labeling them as completely anti-labor. He asserted that these laws have undermined the interests of laborers and eliminated their employment guarantees.
Amarnath Tiwari, Treasurer Gopal Jaiswal, E Satish Kumar, Umesh Rai, Tulsi Rao, HK Yadav, and other members of the Jusco labor union extended a warm welcome to Raghunath Pandey upon his return.
