Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Karna Satyarthi on Tuesday dedicated his office hours at the Collectorate to hearing the voices of common citizens during the Public Grievance Redressal Day. Residents from various blocks and urban areas of the district turned up in large numbers to present their issues, with more than 60 applications submitted for consideration.
The DC patiently heard grievances ranging from personal disputes to broader public interest concerns and issued directions to senior officials of the concerned departments for swift and time-bound action. He emphasized that grievances must be addressed in a transparent and fair manner, ensuring that citizens receive justice without unnecessary delays.
Among the complaints presented were cases against builders, irregularities in tenders, hurdles in availing benefits under the Maiyaan Samman Yojana, incidents of online fraud, and disputes related to house eviction. Citizens also raised demands for private school fee waivers, resolution of land disputes, allotment of shops, and road repair work. Issues of ration cards, arms license issuance, compassionate appointments, internships, and family disputes were also placed before the DC. Several memoranda highlighting broader issues of public interest, such as illegal land encroachment and civic facilities, were submitted as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi said that the purpose of organizing the Public Grievance Redressal Day is to create a direct channel between the administration and the public. “The administration is committed to listening to citizens and ensuring that their problems are resolved on priority. Matters related to government welfare schemes and law and order will be given special attention,” he stated.
The DC instructed departmental officers to ensure timely and effective action on the applications received and to report back on progress. He reiterated that accountability and fairness should guide the handling of all complaints, and public trust in the administration must be strengthened through swift redressal.
