Jamshedpur, Feb. 6: Team Profit Center defeated Shared Services to win the Inter Divisional Chess Championship organised sports department of Tata Steel at Chess Center, JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday.
For the first time team championship was conducted in the history of ID Chess and Grand Master Dibyendu Barua in his service of 25 years in Tata Steel had participated in ID Chess for General Offices team.
Fourty employees from ten units had participated in the tournament including West Bokaro, Shared Services, Iron Making, Long Product, Flat Product, Profit Center, OMQ, Noamundi, FAMD Sukinda and TSK, Kalinganagar.
The winner team Profit Center scored 11 points and comprised of Ranjit Singh, Kameshwar Yadav, P N Kumar, D K Sinha.
The runners-up Shared Services team scored with 8 points which comprised of K K Jha, B K Sharma, Praveen Kumar, D Kundu. The 3rd Place was bagged by West Bokaro which scored 6.5 points and the team comprised of N B Rao, Gopaljee Jha, Amrit Mahato, Kailash Karmali.
In the 4th Place team Long Products scored 6 points which comprised of Tilak Ram, Shailaj Kumar, R K Gupta, A Khalique.
Dibyendu Barua, Grand Master was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes to the winners. Satnam Singh and Mukul Vinayak Choudhari were present on the occasion.
Jayant Bhuyan and Awadesh Kumar were the Arbitors and conducted the entire championships.
Unit Representatives, Gautam Acharjee, Tilak Ram, J Behera, Kuldip Singh and R K MIshra were present on the occasion.
Avinash Kumar conducted the entire championship and was ably supported by Hassan Imam, Punam, Renu Bhaduriya, Ajit Singh, B K Jena, Arun Sinha and Ravi Barua and his team.
